Abstract

TThe purpose of this study was to investigate the problem-solving stages and the characteristics of problem-solvers in children's animations based on the Dewey problem-solving stages and the characteristics of Griffin problem-solvers. The present study was in the paradigm of qualitative research. The animations studied in this study included 10 animations from the Oscar-selected animations that were randomly selected. These animations were examined using the method of deductive content analysis based on the "Dewey" problem solving steps and the characteristics of "Griffin" problem solvers. The results showed that among the problem-solving stages, the most important step was related to providing solutions and reviewing solutions, and the lowest stage was to formulate the results and evaluate them. Among the 10 animations analyzed, Sprited Away and Zootopia had the most problem-solving stages and the brave and frozen animations had the least problem-solving stages. Another result of the research was the analysis of the properties of problem solvers, most of which were related to previous knowledge. The characteristics of seeking help and producing different solutions were observed. Among the animations analyzed in this section, Coco, Sprited Away and Zootopia animations had the most problem-solving features and high and brave animations had the least frequency..
