The first step in reflection upon theory of the philosophical novel in the P4C program: A critical study of P4C pioneers and scholar's views towards the philosophical novel

This article sets out to critically examine the P4C pioneers and scholar's views towards the philosophical novel, in particular philosophical young adult novels. To this end, I have investigated these views from the outset of P4C's program till now. In the course of this exploration a big picture of this phenomenon is gotten, the shortcomings of P4C approach to selecting the suitable novels in community of philosophical inquiry (CPI) is revealed and finally a solution is suggested. This research shows that P4C has taken two approaches to the use of philosophical novel so farpurpose written materials or Limanian novels and the use of existing young adult great novels. As for the former, three views have been discovered: ​in praising the uniqueness of Lipmanian novels, the simultaneous critique and acceptance of Lipmanian novels and children's literature and the critique of Lipmanian novels and the recommendation to the use of existing children's literature. The views on the philosophical novel in this program indicate that due to the shortcomings of the narratives that Lipman calls the philosophical novel and given the fact that the philosophical novel has not been seen as an independent literary genre so far, with simultaneously enjoying from literary richness and the ability to developing (philosophical) thinking, it is time to bring to the center the existing young adult  novels and counting on the capabilities of this genre in developing (philosophical) thinking.
