Abstract

In the field of film and animation, children products suffer weaknesses due to the age gap between the child and the adult translator or writer; because the decisions of the author, translator and dubbing team are different from the happy and bold taste of the child in discovering the surrounding world. If the tone of the dubbed movies, the selected words and its combinations are not understandable for the child, the goal of the translator of the children's films which is forming an effective communication will definitely not be fulfilled. The problems seen in some parts of the Persian and Arabic dubbing of the animation "The Boss Baby; Al-Talfe al-Zaim" shows that the translation team has reduced the possibility of communicating with the Persian-speaking and Arabic-speaking children by using words and grammatical structures not compatible with the tone of the child's speech. The existence of such a feature motivated the researchers to explore the children's tone in the Arabic and Persian dubbing of this animation. The results revealed that in both dubbings, due to following the English version of animation, child tone was not observed and sometimes vocabulary, interpretations, word combinations and grammatical structures were used that were beyond the child's understanding. The difference is that the tone of Arabic dubbing is more childish compared to the Persian one. The findings indicate that translating animation for children requires simplifying abstract and difficult themes such as metaphors and allusions, simplifying difficult vocabulary such as formal and archaic words, and shortening difficult grammatical structures such as demonstrative clauses and long adverbial conjunctions. It needs conducting audience-oriented research based on the reception studies.
