Abstract
In this research, in order to investigate the methods employed by the narrators to reveal the presence of the narratee in the story, we have selected forty short stories that were published in the well-known weekly magazine “Docharkheh” for children and teenagers from 2011 to 2021. These stories were written by a variety of authors. In searching for these signs in the text which are sometimes accompanied by a pause in the act of narration, during which the narrator recounts details unknown to the reader, while considering the proposed and existing definitions of “narratee” in the works of narratology theorists, We have also searched for less discussed signs. The findings of this descriptive-analytical study indicate that the narrators engage with the narratee in a variety of ways, including direct conversation, questioning the narratee, answering hypothetical questions, resolving ambiguities, opening parentheses during the narration to provide additional explanations, etc, all to achieve the following aims: Dignifying the narratees, attracting their attention, enhancing their concentration and trust in the narrative and establishing an intimate interaction with them.
