A Study of Individuation Process in Ahmadreza Ahmadi's Story, "The White Pigeon beside the Mirror"

Abstract
Stories written for children are usually full of symbols and signs which can lead the reader to better perception if understood and appreciated properly. Jungian approach helps us to analyze deeper layers of meaning through signs and symbols of the unconscious. In this study of "The White Pigeon beside the Mirror" by Ahmadreza Ahmadi, archetypal characters, situations and symbols are analyzed. It is argued that with these archetypes the child character goes through the process of individuation. The character goes on a voyage which has several stages moving from innocence to experience and finally gains organized innocence harmonizing the unconscious and the conscious.
