چکیده
فرایند معناسازی و خوانش در ادبیات نوجوان به‌خاطر موقعیت مخاطب نوجوان اهمیتی ویژه دارد. هدف پژوهش حاضر، خوانش و بررسی شبکه‌ی درهم‌تنیده‌ِی نمادها و نشانگان متنی در رمان خواهران تاریک، اثر مهدی رجبی با توجه به نظریه‌ی امبرتو اکو و مفهوم‌های «متن باز» و «خواننده‌ی نمونه» است. روش پژوهش، تحلیل محتوای کیفی با رویکرد توصیفی‌تفسیری است. متن باز به خواننده مجال خوانش و تفسیر چندگانه را می‌دهد، اما متن بسته خواننده را به یک تفسیر درست و معتبر هدایت می‌کند. براساس تحلیل‌ها، خواهران تاریک به «متن باز» نزدیک می‌شود و «خواننده‌ی نمونه»اش را خواننده‌ای منتقد، حساس به واژگان، نشانه‌ها و نمادها و ارتباط‌های درون‌متنی تعریف می‌کند. خواهران تاریک به خواننده مجال ژرف‌کاوی و عاملیت در فرایند خوانش می‌دهد و برای او تعیین تکلیف نمی‌کند. ابهام و نشانه‌های درهم‌تنیده فرایند تولید معنا را گشوده نگه می‌دارند و راه خوانش یگانه و سرراست را سد می‌کنند. فرایند کشف و ساختن معنا پیچیده است و متن با بهره‌گیری از تکنیک‌هایی همچون خلأهای زمانی، سایه‌ی فروافتاده بر ذهنیت و ادراک شخصیت اصلی رمان به‌واسطه‌ی بیماری، دال‌های چندمدلولی و نمادهای عام و شخصی تکرارشونده و مرتبط در ساختار و محتوا (ازجمله طلسم، حلزون، چاه، مه، جنگل) خواننده را به فعالانه خواندن و ساخت معناها و تفسیرهای گوناگون رهنمون می‌شود، اما در پایان‌بندی رمان، نویسنده نتوانسته است شبکه‌ی نمادها را منسجم کند. ابهام‌های مخل، به پیرنگ آسیب زده‌اند و در روساخت، پرسش‌های فراوانی بی‌پاسخ می‌مانند. چنین متن‌هایی در ادبیات نوجوان ایران اندک‌اند و به‌دلیل نزدیک‌شدن به ماهیت چندصدا، کنجکاو و انتقادی نوجوانی، رده‌ای تازه از مخاطب نمونه‌ی نوجوان را در قیاس با متن‌های همتای خود تعریف می‌کنند. نوجوانان امروز، دست‌کم خوانندگان جدی ادبیات نوجوان، بیش از متن‌های بسته، مشتاق متن‌های گشوده‌ای هستند که در آن‌ها تنها ابژه‌ی روایی به حساب نیایند، بلکه بخشی از فرایند ساختنش باشند و سرخوشانه در ابهام ساختاری و بازی‌گوشانه‌اش غوطه بخورند.

Young Adult Novel as an Open Text for an Open Reader Interpreting Interwoven Symbols and Signs in Dark Sisters Based on Umberto Eco’s Interpretation Theory

The process of meaning-making and reading in YA literature is of particular importance. The study aims to examine the interwoven network of textual symbols and signs in Dark Sisters novel by Mehdi Rajabi, based on Umberto Eco's "open text" and "model reader." The research method is qualitative content analysis with descriptive-interpretive approach. An open text allows the reader to read and interpret in different ways, but a closed text leads to one correct and valid interpretation. As results show, Dark Sisters is approximating to "open text" and its "model reader" is defined as a critical reader, sensitive to words, signs, symbols, and intratextual connections. Dark Sisters allows the reader to read more actively. Ambiguities interwoven signs keep meaning-making process open and prevent focusing on a single, straightforward meaning. The process of discovering and constructing the meaning is complex and intricate, and the novel, by utilizing the techniques such as time stops, the shadow cast on the main character’s mind and perception because of mental illness, signifiers with multiple signifieds, and recurring universal and personal symbols in the structure and the content (including talisman, snail, well, fog, forest), guides the reader to read actively and construct various meanings and interpretations. But in the ending, the author fails to make a coherent network of symbols, the disturbing ambiguities damage the plot and in the surface of narrative, many questions remain unanswered. Such texts are rare in Iranian YA literature, and regarding the polyphonic, curious, and critical nature of adolescence, they define a new category of adolescent model audience compared to their similar texts. The current generation of adolescents, at least serious readers of YA literature, are more eager to open texts, in which they are not just narrative objects, but rather part of its construction, immersing happily in its playful structural ambiguity.
