[English]

Childhood is regarded as one of the most sensitive and crucial stages in the growth and development of every individual, as it is during this time that a child's personality, beliefs, and viewpoints are largely shaped. Consequently, translating children’s literature often requires numerous alterations and manipulations due to the age-related sensitivities of children and cultural differences. In this regard, narrating is considered as one of the most effective mechanisms in adapting the text for the child audience. Therefore, the present study aims to investigate framing strategies in translating children's literature based on Baker's (2006) narrative theory by applying a descriptive-analytical method and comparing five selected stories from Andersen's works with their Persian translations in the book 44 Tales by Hans Christian Andersen. The results showed that using strategies, including temporal and spatial framing, selective appropriation, labeling, and repositioning of participants has resulted in the the reframing of the narrative within the target text. In the meantime, selective appropriation is being used more extensively than other strategies.
