Abstract
Symbol is a technique for visualization indicating the lexical potentiality in the reflection of mental images. Literary symbols, being in companion with mental associations and late-founded images have less applicability in children and adolescent poetry. However; psychological symbol, with its tangibility and easily understandable potentials, which is the consequence of children’s emotional interaction with the world inside and of course the world outside, reflects itself in children and adolescent poetry. This type of symbol not only makes no vacuum in children’s meaning making processes, but also satisfies his/her emotional needs and also unifies his/her inner conflicts. Psychological symbol plays an important role and often appears unconsciously in his/her childish games. The most salient reason of its appearance is the potential emotional and imaginative power of the child. In this article the use of psychological symbol in children’s poetry is studied.
